- ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆I'm originally from here and my family have been here many generations or stayed in the county. My mother Tonda Hewitt was a dispatcher til she died in 2002, would have been appalled by this!!! This is from a friend on her interaction with an officer... "So tonight driving home from Syracuse, I got to a stop sign at a full stop (no rolling stop). Turned right (I was in bfe), then the guy that was stopped in the intersection turned on his police lights and pulled me over. Sneaky sucker He came up to my car and stared at me (Chase was with me) and we starred back. Ummm... why were we pulled over? The policeman said: were you going to stop? Me: I DID stop Pm: it was an "abrupt" stop Me: um... it was a full stop. Pm: the only reason you stopped was because you saw me. Me: huh? I didn't see you until you turned on your lights. Chase: it was a full stop and she didn't do anything wrong. Pm: You shut your mouth. Give me your license (??) Chase: I'm not driving. Why do you need to see it? Pm: shut up and give it to me. (Which he did) Pm: (to me) license and registration Me: (I handed it over) Pm: (after 10 mins he handed our stuff back.). Have you been drinking tonight mam? Me: (what the hell?!?). no I haven't been drinking. Why do you ask? Pm: no reason. You're free to go. What the hell was THAT about?!?" Is this what the PD I grew up with has devolved into? Isn't it supposed to be 'protect AND serve?" Not "Im bored so I'm going to harrass and bully a mother and her son just because I carry a badge and gun!" I'm saddened and disgusted by this attitude! This is a prime example of why the public no longer trusts the police to protect or serve them. You are a public servant, not the Gestapo! Who ever this officer is, should probably not be one!
